Leo Africanus is a novel by Amin Maalouf, published in 1986, which traces the life of the 16th-century scholar and traveler, Hasan al-Wazzan, better known as Leo Africanus. Born in Granada and captured by pirates, he was brought to Rome, where he converted to Christianity and became a key figure in the early exchanges between Europe and the Islamic world.
