Discussion: The Spiritual Meadow
Author: John Moschos
Description: The Spiritual Meadow by John Moschos is a collection of anecdotes, biographies, and sayings from the late 6th to early 7th century, documenting the lives and spiritual practices of monks, ascetics, and holy figures in the Eastern Christian world, primarily in Palestine, Egypt, Sinai, Syria, and Cilicia. Written in Greek, the work is often referred to as Leimonarion or New Paradise and was compiled by Moschos, a Byzantine monk born around 550 in Damascus, during his extensive travels with his companion Sophronius, who later became Patriarch of Jerusalem.
