Y Gododdin - by Aneirin
A 6th-century Welsh elegiac poem, one of the earliest surviving works in Old Welsh, attributed to the bard Aneirin. It commemorates the warriors of the Gododdin tribe, led by Mynyddog Mwynfawr, who fought and died against Anglo-Saxon forces at the Battle of Catraeth (circa 600 CE). The poem blends heroic praise with lament, celebrating bravery while mourning the fallen, and offers a glimpse into early medieval British warrior culture and poetic traditions.
