The Frogs - by Aristophanes
The Frogs is a comedy about Dionysus's journey to Hades to bring back a great tragedian to save Athens. This play combines political commentary with literary criticism, comparing the styles of Aeschylus and Euripides. Aristophanes uses the underworld setting to explore themes of art, politics, and the role of literature in society. The play won first prize at the Lenaia festival and remains one of Aristophanes's most celebrated works.
